The term ‘conveyancing’ refers to the legal and administrative work involved in purchasing and selling a property or transferring the title or ownership of land or buildings from one individual to another. The key elements of a transaction are as follows: – Reviewing and investigating the title to the property, raising or receiving observations, preparing documentation including the offer to sell or purchase, exchanging missives (which is the process of adjusting the terms of the conveyancing contract until the contract is finally concluded), payment of stamp duty land tax and thereafter completing title registration with the Land Register of Scotland.
