Maeve Carville - My McSherry Halliday Journey

You may remember a blog post written at the start of this year by Maeve Carville, who, at that time, had recently joined team McSherry Halliday through the Kickstart Scheme. After completing the 6 month programme, we are delighted that Maeve has now taken up a permanent position with the firm.

Here’s what Maeve has to say about her journey with McSherry Halliday…

“I joined McSherry Halliday at the start of this year through the Kickstart Scheme. When I joined the team, I began my role as a receptionist, taking calls from clients and passing them to the relevant member of staff. I would also carry out basic administrative tasks. As I progressed, I was able to expand my experience and I moved on to working within the estate agency team. My tasks in this role were slightly different and I used our estate agency property management system to communicate with prospective purchasers or property owners who were looking to market their home through our estate agency. Having now been with the firm for 10 months and built up experience in different areas, I have now joined the Life Services department. This role is the start of an exciting career path for me, which at the moment involves providing general support to others in the team and completing dictation tasks.

When I first joined McSherry Halliday, I was based within the Kilmarnock office before we all came together under one roof in our new office at Elliott House in Irvine. Consolidating our three offices has worked out really well, especially as a hybrid working system has been introduced, meaning we can also work from home on a remote basis, which I have found really helpful as it provides more flexibility to me as a mother of young children, particularly when unavoidable situations crop up. Our new office is modern and up-to-date which provides a pleasant and comfortable working environment for us all.”

What is the Kickstart Scheme?

The Kickstart Scheme is a Government-funded initiative which works to help young individuals aged 16-24 who are currently in receipt of Universal Credit and at risk of long term unemployment. It’s aimed at getting people into paid work for a period of six months, during which they will gain transferrable skills and industry experience that will help build their CV and increase the chances of full-time employment.

Maeve has shown that hard work and commitment pays off and we’re excited to see what the future holds for her and her future career.
