James Morrison, who was a Partner of award-winning Ayrshire law firm, McSherry Halliday, has recently retired following a successful legal career spanning over four decades in Troon.

James started his career in Kilmarnock as an apprentice of the late Jeff Halliday. He completed his legal apprenticeship in Troon progressing to the partner in charge of that branch office in 1982 and a well-known and respected figure in Troon. He was also one of the founding partners of McSherry Halliday.

James said, “Throughout my career I’ve provided a full range of legal services to the people of Troon, from wills, powers of attorney and estate administration, to house purchases and sales, to assisting Troon businesses with commercial transactions. I have enjoyed a fulfilled legal career and look forward to spending more time abroad and on the golf course during my retirement. I am proud to leave behind a highly capable team in my colleagues, Caroline Nisbet, Catherine Morrow and Alan Hewitt ensuring our Troon client base continues in safe hands.”

James’ strong legacy continues with McSherry Halliday’s 27 skilled team members and James’ existing clients can be reassured that their affairs will be taken care of by the team led by Alan, Caroline and Catherine. Any deeds or documents stored on behalf of our Troon clients will remain secure in McSherry Halliday’s deed storage facility. Having been with the firm for 25 years, Alan heads up the firm’s Life Services Department and is highly experienced in matters of executries, tax and estate administration. He also assists clients in the preparation of wills and powers of attorney. Catherine, Partner of five years and Head of Conveyancing looks after clients who are selling their home or purchasing property, while Caroline, who has been a Partner of the firm for over 30 years, heads up the Family Law Department, advising clients in respect of all aspects of separation.

Caroline said, “James will be missed by us all and we would like to wish him a long, happy and healthy retirement. We look forward to continuing to serve James’ clients in Troon and across Ayrshire and to welcoming new clients.”
